Upcoming Workshops and Events

The DKDK Project believes that deeper learning for students starts with transformational teacher and Leader growth.

We partner with teachers, school and learning-focused organizations to create dynamic experiences for adults. In our workshops, educators become learners, increasing their self-knowledge and internalizing the tenets of deep learning design. Read more about our approach to adult learning.

Boston University Academy: Teaching for Transformation Workshop

  • Boston University Academy 1 University Road Boston, MA, 02215 United States (map)

learner-centered professional Development designed to inspire educators to see teaching and schooling in a new light.

Designed in partnership with Boston University Academy, this three-day workshop explores how educators can design and facilitate learner-centered experiences. Through a series of experiential activities and seminar-style discussions, we will explore the following questions:

  • How do we create more authentic, engaged dialogue in our classes? What makes dialogue different from discussion or debate?

  • How can we design learning experiences that make the most of our local contexts and experts?

  • How can we shift learners’ relationship with history and develop engaged citizens?

  • What would schooling and—more importantly—learning look like if educators saw themselves as ecologists?

  • Can we reframe group work and leadership so that all students can experience strengths-based, creative collaboration (and actually want to work in groups!)?

Who should join?

This workshop is open to educators interested in innovative, learner-centered approaches. While all educators are welcome, examples will be geared towards middle and high school humanities-focused teachers and towards administrators and teacher-leaders looking to develop new programs and curriculum.
