Workshops and Consultations Committed to Deeper Learning

Deeper Learning starts with the Adults

Workshops for School-Based Teams

The DKDK Project believes that deeper learning for students starts with transformational teacher growth. Through our Teaching for Transformation (TfT) programs, we partner with teachers and school leaders to create dynamic learning experiences for adults. In our workshops, teachers become learners, increasing their self-knowledge and internalizing the tenets of deep learning design.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Our place-based workshop focuses on creating natural critical learning environments that incorporate their surrounding communities. Participants will explore curriculum design strategies for connecting skills and content through project-based learning. This workshop must be in-person. We have a two day and a three day version available.

Department Chair Leadership

This workshop will support department chairs who are new to their roles in understanding and articulating their leadership style and in planning for a successful start in their new roles. Participants will gain crucial skills around coaching and supporting teachers and running effective meetings. This can offer this workshop in a two-day, in-person format or as a hybrid one-day in-person with three zoom follow-up sessions.

Collaboration: Building Students Ability to Lead in Groups

Deepen “group work” by introducing students to a set of leadership interventions they can practice and use in class, in group projects and in co-curricular roles. We can offer this workshop in a half-day, full-day or two-day format.

Growth-Oriented Feedback: Beyond Grades and Towards Feedforward

This workshop invites participants to consider the role feedback plays in creating learning environments and experiences that facilitate growth and deeper learning. We explore ways we can create “feedforward” loops that support learner-centered growth. We will further examine the role traditional grading systems play in our students' experience of school and grapple with how we can work within and disrupt that paradigm. Incorporating these practices builds student agency, grows meta-cognition and shifts the way a teacher designs learning. We can offer this workshop in a half-day, full-day or two-day format.

Perspectives on Learning & Schools Today

This full-day workshop is ideal for senior leadership teams and trustees eager to engage in conversations about where their school should head over time. The workshop begins with a presentation of about learning today. Participants will gain a solid foundational understanding of brain science, psychology and generational research, as well as an overview of a number of innovations and initiatives happening at schools near and far. Following the presentation, we lead participants through an interactive session that will allow the group to digest, discuss and - ultimately - dream about innovation. This is a perfect way to energize and focus your school’s leadership and/or kick-off a strategic planning process.
